Native American Boarding School

When watching the film, Last of the Mohicans it took place during the French and Indian War. The French and English both had allies against the Native American tribes. France and Great Britain were batteling over control of the colonies. Along the way you see relationships being strained. This had to be a very difficult time for the different cultures because each had problems with anyone who was not one of their own. Sadly enough they were both going behind each others backs and harming each other. Back then though it was a way to survive and doing what they had to do to protect themselves.

Watching the victim of Indian Boarding Schools really opened my eyes as to how people who did not speak English were treated years ago. This man did not choose to not speak English it was that he did not know how and he was punished for that. He couldn't help himself and couldn't change anything but was still punished. Watching this film was truly heart breaking, it is not often you see a grown man cry. It is also many years later and you can still see the pain and hurt in his eyes. This shows he was unable to fully overcome that tragic experience. The way teachers were allowed to treat their students years ago was unlawful. Its disgusting what they got away with and were able to do to their students. They cut this mans hair because he didn't speak English, they did what ever they wanted to and its horrible.
